Several model gardens that are not only green but sustainable as well, with sensors that monitors the soil moisture, delivering only the necessary amount required by the plant to thrive. Waste water management has also been addressed with some gardens using nature to filter household waste water from the many sources into a natural recycling and filtration system that gives water so clean even fish can thrive. Weeds, rotting trees and other garden refuse are turned into compost, along with animal waste making the soil naturally rich and fertile. Refraining from using insecticides and other man-made chemicals is again catching up, allowing the natural pest control system to work it’s magic. It won’t give you perfect fruits and veggies but is surely helps nature regain her power over the many pests that today plagues our gardens and fields.
Solar lighting or even wind power generation for use indoors and out, also helps reduce the amount of power needed to maintain a thriving and bountiful garden. Selection of native plants that have naturally adapted to the climate of the area where you live in is the best idea, and throw away that sprinkler, turning to smart irrigation that uses drip hoses made of recycled car tires for efficient water distribution. Nature has evolved through millions of years of evolution a natural system that made this world habitable in the first place, why not give her a chance to prove herself once again and take a pro-active role in helping the balance to return to more manageable levels.
