//"" Who says luxury spaces always has to have the function of opulence, take a look at some of the greenest homes around and they are all of the criteria you may look for in a luxury home. There are however sacrifices that have to be made in terms of the way you live and how you live life outside of the home to be truly committed to the greening of the world. Light bulbs are one simple way to help reduce carbon emissions, switching to LED or CFL’s are proven to reduce some of the energy needs. Most appliances today come with stand-by options that leads to vampire power, or power that is minimal yet still consumes a few hundred dollars a year as it piles up. Better to install switched outlets or power strips that have individual power switches that can be turned off individually.
Smart homes have sensors that automatically turns off the lights, outlets and other electrical devices when no body is around, switching it back on when an occupant is about to enter rendering the circuit ready for use. A wonderful idea of how a smart system works are the plastic cards attached to your hotel keys you have to insert into a slot near the door which activates a relay turning on the power to all electrical items in the room, except for the fridge outlet that is. Want the ultimate luxury green home, have a smart electrical system with sensors that not only monitors the need to turn on the lights but recognizes the amount of daylight present, dimming or brightening automatically as needed. Just hope they can figure out a way to turn on the millions of faucets left accidentally on without anybody using it, it’ll surely save a lot of fresh water which is quite precious these days.
